Turkish Banks Exposed to Higher Operating Environment Risk

Overview

Capital Intelligence Ratings (CI Ratings or CI) recently lowered the Operating Environment Risk Anchor (OPERA) for Turkey to 'b' from 'b+'. This change impacted the credit ratings of a large number of Turkish banks, which were subsequently downgraded on 19th June.

This note explains OPERA and provides additional insight on the operating environment risks currently facing Turkey's banking sector.
