China Merchants Bank - Ratings Affirmed, with a Stable Outlook

Capital Intelligence Ratings (CI Ratings or CI), the international credit rating agency, today announced that it has affirmed the Financial Strength Rating (FSR) of China Merchants Bank (CMB) at 'BBB'. The rating is underpinned by the sound and improving loan asset quality, solid capital ratios following the issuance of additional Tier 1 capital, better than peer group profitability and sound liquidity metrics. The rating also reflects the Bank's size and sound business franchise, as well as the large indirect holding by the Mainland Chinese government.
