Alpha Bank’s Financial Strength Rating Affirmed at ‘B-’
Overview
Capital Intelligence Ratings (CI Ratings or CI), the international credit rating agency, today announced that it has affirmed Alpha Bank's (AB) Financial Strength Rating (FSR) at 'B-'. The Outlook remains 'Stable'. Despite the expectation that operating conditions in the Greek banking sector will improve, the Long- and Short-Term Foreign Currency Ratings remain on 'Selective Default' ('SD') due to the continued existence of capital controls on deposit withdrawals. AB reinforced its capital base significantly with a EUR2.6 billion capital increase in November 2015, which was achieved without any state aid.
